19-year-old arrested following police chase through Salisbury

A 19-year-old man was arrested for dangerous driving after failing to stop for police in Salisbury.

A Renault Clio failed to stop for police at 5.45pm yesterday evening (November 25) on the A36, Southampton Road, resulting in officers following the car through Petersfinger, Laverstock, Ford and into Old Sarum.

The car eventually came to a stop on The Portway, Old Sarum close to Sherbourne Drive, and passengers were seen to run away from the car.

“Officers later located a 19-year-old male and he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, aggravated taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving without a licence and driving without insurance,” a Salisbury Police spokesperson said.

“The male remains in custody while enquiries continue.”

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage of the occupants running away from the car.
