“Action underway” to move unauthorised encampment on Bishopdown Playing Fields

SALISBURY Police said it is aware of the unauthorised encampment on Bishopdown Playing Fields and it is taking action.

The group first set up at Elizabeth Gardens last week before moving to Victoria Park on Monday (July 14).

It was reported that fences at Victoria Park were broken down.

Salisbury City Council said it is aware of the relocation and is taking all appropriate steps to manage the situation in line with legal procedures.

ASalisbury Police spokesperson said: “Salisbury Neighbourhood Policing Team is working closely with Wiltshire Council and other relevant partners to manage the situation.

“We understand that this has raised concern in the local community and we want to reassure you that the appropriate legal processes are being followed.

“The necessary paperwork has been served and action is underway to resolve the matter.
