AN INTERNATIONALLY renowned author will be speaking at Salisbury Cathedral next month to mark International Women’s Day.
Professor Janina Ramirez, an art historian and broadcaster specialising in medieval art and symbolism, will speak about her latest book, Legenda: The Real Women Behind the Myths That Shaped Europe on Sunday, March 8.
Having only been released in November last year, Legenda has already been widely praised, described as meticulously researched, and a ‘breathtaking’ exploration of historical women.
Her previous novel Femina: A New History of the Middle Ages, Through the Women Written Out of It (WH Allen) was an instant no1 Sunday Times bestseller, a Waterstones & Hatchards Book of the Month and was shortlisted for the Cundill History Prize.
Janina is a presenter, lecturer and researcher, specialising in interpreting symbols and examining art works within their historical context.
She has also written and presented several documentaries for BBC4 and R4.
There will be a Q&A with Janina and a book signing at the end.
