ARTISTS from across the UK and beyond are being invited to take part in a major new exhibition celebrating contemporary interpretations of landscape at Salisbury Museum.
The museum has announced that it is now accepting entries for the Landscape Open 2026, a group exhibition dedicated to exploring, depicting and challenging the theme of landscape in all its forms.
Around 75 works will be selected for display, showcasing a wide range of media and perspectives.
Open to artists working in any medium – including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, photography, moving image, print and textiles – the exhibition aims to highlight the vitality and diversity of landscape art today.
Submissions are welcomed from both UK-based and international artists.
The overall winner will receive a £1,000 prize and a solo exhibition at Salisbury Museum.
Students are also eligible for a Student Mentoring Prize, and all exhibiting artists will be in the running for the People’s Choice Award.
The selection panel brings together expertise from across the arts and sciences.
It includes Adrian Green, director of Salisbury Museum; artist Nina Murdoch; artist Emma Stibbon; award-winning earth scientist Dr Anjana Kwatwa; and art historian and curator Dr David Boyd Haycock.
Adrian Green said: “We have a long track record in putting on exhibitions dedicated to landscape, which have included works by artists ranging from John Constable to Jeremy Deller.
“The open feels like the logical next step which will celebrate the best contemporary work inspired by this genre.”
The exhibition will open to the public from October 17, 2026, to January 31, 2027, with a private view on October16.
Selected works will be collected between February 4 and 6, 2027.
Located opposite Salisbury Cathedral, Salisbury Museum is housed in the King’s House, a Grade I listed medieval building.
The museum’s mission is to engage audiences with the region’s landscapes, heritage and art, combining historic collections with contemporary experiences.
Artists can submit up to three works via the ArtOpps Online Portal before the deadline of 5pm on August 20.
