THE mayor of Amesbury has praised the town’s “compassion, generosity and community spirit” after a charity bingo event raised hundreds of pounds for children with life-limiting illnesses.
A total of £575 was raised through the Amesbury Community Bingo Group as part of the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, with funds going towards the Mad Hatters Tea Party organised by the Buzz Action Foundation.

Speaking after the event, the mayor and Wiltshire councillor for Amesbury West Dr Monica Devendran paid tribute to those who helped make the fundraiser a success.

She added: “I would like to thank the committee members of the Amesbury Community Bingo Group – Jeff Coy and Maureen Swaffield for their dynamic support and commitment.
“A massive thanks to Laura Allies for her generosity on behalf of Tesco Amesbury through the donation of raffle prizes, the Christ the King Hospitality Team for their wonderful support, and to everyone who took part and supported this initiative.
“Together, we continue to demonstrate the compassion, generosity and community spirit that make Amesbury so special.”

The Mad Hatters Tea Party supports children with life-limiting illnesses, with the Amesbury community once again rallying together to back the cause.
The successful fundraiser highlights the strong network of volunteers, businesses and community groups in the town, working together to make a difference.
