Celebrate Voice ‘Celestial Sounds’ at Little Durnford

LITTLE Durnford Manor will provide a spectacular backdrop for the annual Celebrate Voice summer gala at the weekend.

The gala will feature opera, show songs and jazz on Saturday, July 12 from 5.30pm.

With a leading line-up of singers to include festival favourite baritone Philip Smith, new faces include tenor Robert Forrest ahead of his debut at this year’s BBC Proms at the Albert Hall.

Mezzo-soprano Miranda Westcott (who recently performed at the Royal Opera House, Festen) and popular soprano Monica McGhee complete the line-up, with the show hosted by festival founder Lynsey Docherty.

The concert has grown a significant following over the years, renowned for its stunning setting, inviting the audience to picnic amongst the quintessentially English countryside setting, accompanied by jazz singer Charlie Greenwood.

And local artists present their work with a stunning art exhibition bringing a mix of nature, art and music and not forgetting the parade of the camels at the interval.

The performance is the main festival fundraiser of the year and is a prominent musical and social event in Salisbury’s summer calendar.

A Celebrate Voice spokesperson said they are grateful to make a return to this “exceptional” venue courtesy of the Earl and Countess of Chichester.

They added: “Conducted from the piano by David Gostick, the event also showcases incredible young talent with an elite group of young singers for the Celebrate Voice Youth Choir, and a new composition from the festival SEND choir.”

The gala will also announce the programme line-up for the Celebrate Voice 2025 Festival, taking place this year in multiple venues across the city from October 22 to November 1.
