Charity calls on job seekers to make a real difference this New Year

AS THE new year approaches, a homelessness charity is calling on people to consider careers that make a tangible difference.

ALABARÉ, which supports more than 3,200 vulnerable individuals across the south west and Wales each year, is encouraging job seekers to embrace a ‘New Year, New Career’ and help transform lives.

The charity offers roles across mental health, learning disabilities, young people’s services and homelessness, as well as volunteer and governance positions.

Many positions are in Wiltshire and Hampshire with flexible hours and locations available.

Chief executive of ALABARÉ Andrew Lord said: “Seeing in 2026 brings an opportunity to refresh our life goals with a New Year New Career. What better way to make a real difference than joining us to deliver person-centred support that transforms lives?”

The push comes amid growing demand for ethical roles. Research from Totaljobs shows that 4 million people – around 11% of the UK workforce – seek new roles at the start of the year.

Meanwhile, a study by Cooperatives UK found that 40% of younger workers would leave a job lacking social value.

ALABARÉ offers meaningful careers that directly impact the lives of people facing homelessness, addiction or mental health challenges.

Over the past year, the charity has helped hundreds of individuals secure stable housing and access support for substance misuse and wellbeing.

The charity has also been recognised for its excellence in services for homelessness, mental health, veterans and adults with learning disabilities.

Flexible working, an inclusive culture and a growing impact make it an appealing choice for those looking to combine purpose with a career.

Andrew added: “The key to providing the best support for clients is having the best support for colleagues – setting high standards and creating an environment where people thrive.”

Those interested can explore current vacancies and apply online via the ALABARÉ website.
