RESIDENTS in Amesbury are being reminded that today is the final chance to have their say on plans for a major revamp of Bonnymead Play Park.
Amesbury Town Council is proposing a significant refurbishment of the play area, funded through council reserves, to create what it describes as a new “destination play park” for the town.
The project carries an estimated cost of around £500,000 and aims to modernise facilities while making them more inclusive for all users.
Earlier this year, the council appointed a specialist play consultant and ran a competitive tender process.
Four companies submitted designs for the park, after which councillors selected a preferred design and supplier.
Since then, further changes have been requested to improve accessibility, including the addition of a wheelchair roundabout and a wheelchair-accessible see-saw.

Before the council finalises the contract, it is seeking public feedback on the proposals.
Residents are being asked what they like and dislike about the design, as well as which single piece of equipment they would most like to see included in the park.

Bonnymead Recreation Ground, whose name originates from “beautiful meadow”, was gifted to the town for community use and remains one of Amesbury’s most popular open spaces.
The site includes a children’s play area, skate park, multi-use games area, outdoor fitness equipment and access to the River Avon, as well as links to countryside walks.
It was designated a Field in Trust in 2012, protecting it for future generations.
If approved, the council hopes the new play park will be installed by early summer.
Feedback can be submitted via the online consultation form, by emailing info@amesburytowncouncil.gov.uk or by viewing the designs displayed on the noticeboard in Central Car Park.
All comments must be received by the end of today (January 7) and the council will then review the feedback and consider the final design at its full council meeting on Tuesday, January 13.
