Don’t let it be game over for Salisbury’s Highest Score Arcade

THE Salisbury community is being urged to help save an independent retro arcade and entertainment space in the city.

Highest Score Arcade, at the Cross Keys Shopping Centre, was forced to close last week due to operational issues, rising costs and low footfall.

But now, owner James is reopening the doors for two very special days in a last effort to keep the arcade alive.

Visitors will be able to stay as long as they like with just a £1 donation this Friday (July 11) and Saturday (July 12) – but those who can are asked to pay more, as James said every pound will go directly towards keeping the lights on.

The arcade features a carefully restored collection of pinball and retro gaming machines, and on these open days, it will also be serving locally brewed craft beer from Dark Revolution, creating a fun, nostalgic space for both families and adults to enjoy.

“I built Highest Score to bring back real, hands-on gaming and community fun to Salisbury,” James said.

“This weekend is about showing what’s possible when people come together.

“If there’s ever been a time to visit, it’s now.

“Thank you all for your support online, I’ve seen the comments and hope you can continue your support by joining us this weekend.”

James said the coming weekend is an opportunity for people to prove that independent shops can survive when supported by the people and businesses around them.

He said that if turnout is strong, there’s a “real chance” the arcade could run through the summer and beyond.

If not, these may be its final days.
