Drink driver disqualified three weeks after passing test

A TEENAGER from Larkhill has been disqualified from driving just three weeks after passing his test.

Harvey Teale, 18, of Cator Road, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on November 28 and pleaded guilty to drink driving.

At approximately 1.30am on September 28, concerns were raised by members of the public that Teale was intoxicated and had got into a Vauxhall Corsa.

Officers then tracked the vehicle heading in the direction of Southampton Road, observing his poor driving.

Teale failed a breath test after admitting he was over the legal limit.

He was given a 15-month driving ban and ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 CPS costs and £48 surcharge.

PC Pedliham said: “His manner of driving, when spotted by police, fell well below the standard we would expect of a competent driver and I am pleased a driving ban has been handed out.

“This approach to driving, despite being so new to the roads, is unacceptable and puts lives at risk.

“Driving under the influence of alcohol is a fatal 5 offence – one of the leading causes of serious injury and fatalities on our roads.

“Over the Christmas period, more people will be out and about celebrating and consuming alcohol. Please, ensure you have planned your journey home and do not drink and drive.”
