A DRIVER was found to be travelling at more than double the speed limit in Wilton earlier this month.
Salisbury Police issued a speed enforcement update after focusing on The Avenue in Wilton and near Deegan House in Coombe Bissett.
They found that in Wilton, 34 vehicles were found to have exceeded the 30mph limit in just over 35 minutes on May 1.
Shockingly, one vehicle managed to reach 71mph, with four others recorded at over 50mph.
As a result, 20 drivers will be offered a speed awareness course, 10 will receive three points and a fixed penalty notice, and four will face court proceedings.

The following day, in another 35-minute period in Coombe Bissett, 27 speeding vehicles were detected on a road clearly marked with a 30mph limit.
The fastest was recorded at 48mph.
24 drivers will now be offered a speed awareness course, and three will receive a fixed penalty notice and three points.
A Salisbury Police spokesperson said: “For both locations, proceedings are now underway to ensure each offence is dealt with appropriately.
“Speeding isn’t just breaking the law – it’s putting lives at risk. Be safe. Drive smart. Watch your speed.”
