Earl’s hospital charity Christmas message of thanks

THE PRESIDENT of Salisbury District Hospital’s charity the Stars Appeal has praised the fundraising efforts of people who have helped fund life-changing equipment this year.

In a Christmas message, the Earl of Pembroke expressed a “heartfelt thank you” to the tens of thousands of people who supported the charity throughout 2025.

He said: “From specialist equipment such as a new lung function machine helping over 2,000 respiratory patients, additional services including our parent accommodation on the Special Care Baby Unit, and newly expanded keyhole surgery capability, your kindness continues to make an extraordinary difference.

“We’ve provided those undergoing cancer treatment with a range of support, such as free sessions with our dedicated Stars Appeal aromatherapist.

“Patients can have someone close stay by their side when it matters most thanks to specialist sleeper chairs.

“And children being cared for on the Children’s Ward are benefitting from a dedicated play assistant and advanced therapy equipment.

“This is in addition to the charity’s ongoing work, including Stars Appeal Wi-Fi, live music and arts, and hospital chaplaincy.

“All of our work is only possible thanks to the generosity of those who donate, fundraise, and remember the Stars Appeal in their wills.

“Your ongoing support remains at the heart of everything the Stars Appeal is able to achieve.

“Thank you for your continued kindness.”
