Free knit and natter project aims to create new friendships

A NEW project is encouraging people to chat and knit with care home residents in Wilton.

Run and held at Wilton Place care home, the free initiative sees people bond over their craft while tucking into tea and cakes.

The knit and natter project takes place each Friday from 11am and will provide guests the opportunity to bond with others they might not usually cross paths with.

The hospitality team at the home will also be serving a spread of tea, coffee and cakes freshly made by their chef for all to enjoy.

Activity coordinator at the care home, Fiona Long, said: “We started this project for elderly people in the community who might want some time outside of the home and to make some new friends.

“We also wanted to make a space for those who spend their time taking care of others to have a little respite of their own, we know a cup of tea and a friendly ear can go a long way.”
