Hear from community leaders about Salisbury’s conservation efforts

RESIDENTS are being invited to help shape environmental action at the next Salisbury Area Board meeting later this month.

The evening will shine a spotlight on conservation initiatives across the city and the surrounding area, with a series of presentations from organisations leading work to cut carbon emissions and protect the environment.

The meeting will take place at Salisbury City Hall on February 26, starting at 6pm, with networking opportunities from 5.30pm. Organisers say everyone is welcome to attend.

Among those speaking will be Wiltshire Council’s climate team, Share Salisbury and the Salisbury Conservation Panel.

Each will provide updates on their projects and outline how residents can get involved in making a difference.

As well as the environmental theme, the meeting will include general updates from local partners and community leaders.

The area board will also consider several grant applications supporting a range of projects in the area.

Cllr Paul Sample JP, Cabinet Member for Environment, Climate and Waste, and Chairman of Salisbury Area Board, said: “This meeting is a chance to hear from a range of organisations dedicated to reducing carbon emissions and protecting the precious environment of our county.

“We hope people leave feeling inspired and enthused to do what they can in their own communities. As a large organisation, we are proud to lead the way on these vital issues, but there is only so much we can achieve alone. Meaningful change happens when local people and groups take action together.

“I look forward to seeing people there.”

Residents who would like more information about the meeting are encouraged to contact karen.linaker@wiltshire.gov.uk.

The area board meetings are open forums designed to give local people a voice, provide updates on key issues and support grassroots projects through community grant funding.
