Ill health forces mayor to step down

WILTON Town Council has announced that mayor Cllr Alexandra Boyd has taken the difficult decision to step down.

Since being elected in May 2025, Cllr Boyd has faced some significant health challenges.

The town council said in a statement: “It is now both timely and important for her to focus fully on her recovery without the additional responsibilities that come with the mayoral role.

“We are deeply grateful for her dedication and commitment during her time as mayor and appreciate her ongoing support to our community as she continues in her role as councillor.

“Cllr Boyd will continue to be involved in supporting local events whenever her health allows.

“We thank Cllr Boyd for her service and wish her a smooth and speedy recovery.”

Wilton Town Council will consider interim arrangements and appoint a new mayor for the remainder of the 2026/2027 term at the next full council meeting on January 12, when a further update will be provided.
