Independent Wilton shops celebrate successful first season of events

A COLLECTIVE of independent shops and businesses in Wilton have made a big impact in a short space of time, bringing fun, entertainment and community spirit to the town.

Since launching in October 2025, the Wilton Indies’s combination of charity work, festive celebrations and support for local shopping has already made the town a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike

The group kicked off with a Halloween trail, raising funds for the Wilton Education Fund and bringing trick-or-treating to families from across the area.

Later, they collaborated on a Christmas advertising campaign to highlight Wilton as a festive shopping destination and hosted a popular late-night shopping event, featuring live entertainment and community activities.

Highpoints included performances from local musicians, choirs and historical tours, alongside festive appearances from Santa and Wilf the Elf, who helped spread holiday cheer.

Organisers thanked everyone involved for their support and expressed excitement about growing the collective in 2026.

“Given we all have our own businesses to run, we’ve managed to come together and create something great,” said a spokesperson for the Wilton Indies.

“Thank you to all that have taken part and we hope to work together with more independents in 2026.”
