OLDER residents in Salisbury are being invited to swap their slippers for their dancing shoes as Age UK Wiltshire brings its popular Daytime Disco to the city.
The free event, open to anyone aged 55 and over, will take place at The Guildhall in Market Place on Friday, February 27, from 2pm to 4pm.
Titled Let’s Change How We Age, the afternoon promises a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, with a lively soundtrack of hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
Whether guests fancy taking to the dance floor or prefer to sit back with a drink and enjoy the music, organisers say there will be something for everyone.
Free refreshments will be available, alongside a licensed bar, and The Guildhall offers an accessible venue with plenty of space for guests to socialise and enjoy the entertainment.
The Daytime Disco has proved a hit at other venues across the county, regularly attracting large crowds.
Because of its popularity, Age UK Wiltshire is advising attendees to arrive in good time.
The Guildhall has a capacity of 200 people and, once that number is reached, no further guests will be admitted for safety reasons.
Doors will open at 1.45pm, with those arriving earlier asked to queue outside.
Organisers are also encouraging groups to arrive together, as once the venue reaches capacity, entry cannot be guaranteed – even if friends are already inside.
There is no need to book – guests can simply turn up on the day.
With great music, good company and a chance to celebrate later life, the event is set to be a highlight of the winter social calendar for Salisbury’s over-55s.
