A MAN has been jailed for more than a year following a dangerous pursuit near Salisbury.

On October 30, Seamus Ford, 22, of the Quadrangle, Eastleigh, was reported to officers after he was seen colliding with bins near Wetherspoons.

He was then sighted by officers on Brown Street where he failed to stop.

Ford, driving a blue Volkswagen Golf, then led police on a 45-minute pursuit through three counties, repeatedly driving on the wrong side of the carriageway, performing dangerous overtakes, turning off his lights and playing ‘chicken’ with oncoming drivers.

He was brought to a stop in a TPAC (tactical pursuit and containment) on the A338 near to New Forest Water Park.

On Thursday (27/11), Ford pleaded guilty at Salisbury Crown Court to dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without a licence and insurance and possession of heroin and cannabis.

He was jailed for 15 months and disqualified from driving for 19 months.

PC Pedliham, based in Salisbury response, said: “Ford’s driving was some of the worst I’ve seen and could have resulted in numerous collisions.

“I’d like to thank the members of the public who reported Ford’s dangerous driving, allowing us to sight Ford and arrest him following a pursuit.

“His driving was extremely dangerous and showed no regard for his fellow drivers, and I’m pleased he has been jailed.”
