New ‘welfare facility’ for ambulance crews planned in Amesbury

AMBULANCE crews will be able to recharge their vehicles and themselves if plans for a new welfare station in Amesbury are approved.

Portakabin, on behalf of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, has applied to Wiltshire Council for permission for a cabin at Solstice Park.

The structure would be built on a site north of the Holiday Inn, on land currently used for ambulance parking.

“Well situated to the major road network, the site is easily accessible from A303 Amesbury Bypass,” the application said.

“Entering from Solstice Park Avenue, the wider site comprises a number of retail units including Asda Fuel with ancillary parking.

“The proposed development site lies along the northern boundary currently laid to grasscrete used by the ambulance service as parking.

“Current provision is inadequate and not innkeeping with the urban development of the immediate site characteristics.”

A total of three ambulances would be able to use the site, with connections meaning equipment could be recharged ready to respond to callouts.
