Officer shot on Salisbury Plain with suspected catapult

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an officer was shot in the leg with a suspected catapult on Salisbury Plain.

At just after 9.30pm on January 17 an officer witnessed motorbikes being ridden at Z crossing in Everleigh without lights or number plates.

When asked the vehicles failed to stop.

The officer left his vehicle to find his thermal scope in the rear of the vehicle and saw a bike in the woods to the left.

At which point, something hit his left leg with “quite some force, causing bruising”.

The bike immediately started up and made off again, lights off.
