THOUSANDS of residents are being urged to sign up for digital council tax statements in a bid by the council to be ‘eco-friendly’.
Wiltshire Council says ‘e-billing’ will save 90p in printing and postage costs, reduce paper waste and help cut carbon emissions.
The council says other benefits for people include instant access and the ability to view statements at any time and manage payments.
E-billing also delivers customer service, environmental and financial benefits.
Cabinet member for communities, engagement and corporate services Cllr Mel Jacob said: “Switching to e-billing is a simple step that delivers big benefits. It’s faster, greener, and gives you more control over your council tax.
“Not only will it make life easier for residents, but it will also help us with our sustainability goals by reducing paper and waste.
“In addition, every resident who chooses e-billing saves the council around 90p in printing and postage costs, money that can be reinvested into other key services.

“By signing up, you’re helping us provide a more efficient, sustainable service for everyone.
“Therefore, I strongly encourage anyone who can do so to join the other 15,000 residents and make the switch.”
E-billing instructions can be found on the Wiltshire Council website.
The council tax online portal has recently been refreshed to improve usability.
In addition to requesting e-bills, residents can also use the portal to print their council tax bill, set up or amend direct debits, notify of a house move, check their council tax band and apply for council tax discounts.
