WILTSHIRE motorists are being asked to ensure they are not causing an obstruction to road surfacing works which are currently being rolled out across the county.
Before surfacing works take place, households should be notified via a letter explaining the specifics of the work and advising people to park elsewhere while it is carried out.
However, some people are still parking where the work is needed, causing obstructions and delays to the programme of works.
When this happens, crews are forced to either work around the obstruction, which can compromise the quality of the work, or abandon the site entirely and reschedule, affecting other planned works across the county.

Councillor Martin Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “The vast majority of people are really helpful when our teams are resurfacing and maintaining roads, and they ensure their vehicles are moved so that we can complete the work professionally and without any issues.
“I’d like to thank these residents and urge everyone to keep an eye out for advance notices and signage in their area.
“However, despite our letters, signage and other warnings of the upcoming work, some people still leave their vehicles to obstruct our teams, and we’re asking those people to please pay attention to the signage and move their vehicles so that we can improve Wiltshire’s roads.
“We understand that moving vehicles can be inconvenient, but we believe that it’s worth it to improve our road network; besides, the impact of not doing so is significant.”
