Pub near Salisbury set to re-open in late summer

A COUNTRY pub near Salisbury is set to re-open later this summer – under new ownership.

The Chickpea Group has announced it hopes to open The Silver Plough, in Pitton, in ‘late summer’.

Work is already underway at the site, with the Wiltshire-based group now appealing for potential staff members to get in touch.

“We are Chickpea Group and we are lucky enough to be the new custodians of the Silver Plough,” a spokesperson said on social media.

“We’re working hard to reopen after a little facelift and now we need a gang of lovely people to help us run the place.

“Calling all chefs, bar tenders, and front of house heroes – please holla if you’re looking for something new.

“We’re a nice bunch.”

The Chickpea Group already operates several pubs in the county, including The Pembroke Arms in Wilton and the first pub it took control of, The Bell and Crown in Zeals.

The company website promises ‘relaxed and friendly surroundings’ at their venues.

“We serve simple, hearty food and our chefs are passionate about finding the best local produce they can get their hands on to create a menu that moves with the seasons,” it said.

In June, the pub was the subject of an application by Pitton and Farley Parish Council to designate it a ‘community asset’.
