FESTIVITIES in Salisbury were scaled back today after traders at the city’s Christmas on the Square event closed early due to poor weather conditions.
Salisbury City Council confirmed the decision was taken in response to the weather, apologising to residents and visitors for any disappointment caused.
Despite the early closures, the council said several attractions in the Market Square remained open, including food outlets the Salisbury SnowGlobe bar and Santa’s Grotto, allowing families and visitors to continue enjoying parts of the festive programme.
Christmas on the Square has been running throughout December, drawing crowds to the city centre with seasonal stalls, food and drink and activities for children.
The council has advised visitors to keep an eye on official updates for further information, as weather conditions may continue to affect events in the coming days.
