A SEVEN-hour power cut is planned in Downton village tomorrow despite many residents being unaware.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) will be undertaking work in the Moot Lane area between 9am and 4pm.

Downtown Parish Council (DPC) has taken to social media, stating that a resident has notified them.

The council says the company should have sent written notice and a text informing more residents of the power cut.

Those with a battery pack or essential equipment are advised to charge them before tomorrow.

DPC has also asked people to make sure they inform any vulnerable residents about the planned outage.

The council advises people who have not been notified to contact SSEN on 0800 048 3504 and quote reference number 247573.
