RNLI to drop anchor in Salisbury for Mayday Appeal later this month

RNLI volunteers will have buckets at the ready at the charity’s annual Mayday Appeal.

The Salisbury and Wilton fundraising branch will be at the Guidhall Square on Saturday, April 26 from 9am to 3pm, where attendees can enjoy performances from two sea shanty choirs while raising money for an important cause.

The event, which will include a retail stall featuring the full range of RNLI souvenirs, will also host a team from Mudeford Lifeboat Station who will be promoting water safety.

“Water safety is an increasingly important part of RNLI’s work to teach visitors to keep themselves safe at the coast and in the water,” a branch spokesperson said.

“Both adults and children are welcome to visit our team for practical information.”

Catch of the Day, Kate Edgar’s ladies’ choir, will be performing at 11am in front of the Guildhall and again at 12pm in Old George Mall.

The well-known Navy Larks choir will also be singing at 1pm in front of the Guildhall and at 2pm in Old George Mall.

The Salisbury and Wilton fundraising branch held a very successful Lifeboat Saturday in the Guildhall Square to celebrate 200 years of the RNLI last October, and the team are hoping to replicate its success.
