Rockbourne Fair brings more than 100 independent stalls to Salisbury

THE hugely popular Rockbourne Fair opened to a buzz of activity earlier today as shoppers look to get their Christmas shopping started early.

Held at Salisbury Racecourse, the three-day shopping event raises money to support the Stars Appeal, Salisbury Hospital’s Charity.

This year marks the 37th edition of the fair and more than 100 handpicked independent stallholders can all be found under one roof.

From small-batch skincare to statement jewellery, slow fashion to artisan snacks – it’s a one-stop shop for thoughtful gifts and beautiful finds you won’t see on the high street.

And with more than 30% of stalls new for 2025, there’s plenty to tempt returning visitors too.

Bev Moulding, chair of the Rockbourne Fair Committee, said: “Opening day always has a special energy – people arrive early, grab a coffee, and start ticking off their Christmas lists.

But more than that, there’s a real sense of community here. Everyone knows that what they’re buying is also helping local patients and families through the Stars Appeal.

We’re so proud to see the doors open once again, and we hope to welcome plenty of visitors over the next three days to enjoy everything the Fair has to offer.”

Visitors this year can expect some new additions, including an outdoor pizza van serving hot, fresh woodfired sourdough pizza every day and more than 30 new stalls selling British made accessories, colourful homeware, hand-poured candles, jewellery, gourmet food and more.

Late night shopping is also returning tomorrow (October 16), with doors open until 7.30pm – perfect for after-work browsing or a relaxed evening visit

Also returning is the popular Rockbourne Fair lunch menu, available in the on-site restaurant, offering seasonal dishes, coffee and cake deals, and even a glass of fizz for those in the festive spirit.

While Rockbourne Fair is loved for its friendly atmosphere and exceptional variety of stallholders, its purpose runs deeper.

Money raised will go towards the £2million the Stars Appeal aims to raise this year to fund state-of-the-art equipment, enhancements to buildings, and ongoing projects across Salisbury District Hospital, which include support for people with cancer, play therapy equipment and a dedicated play assistant on the Children’s Unit, and Stars Appeal Wi-Fi.

Helena Sinclair, from the Stars Appeal, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the brilliant Rockbourne Fair team for giving their time and energy so generously year after year, and to all the stallholders and shoppers who support the event.

“The money raised will help us to do even more to enhance the care of patients and their families across Salisbury District Hospital. We hope to see you at the Fair!”

The fair is open until 5.30pm today, 10am to 7.30pm tomorrow and 10am to 3pm on Friday (October 17). Entry is £6 per person.
