Salisbury Christmas card competition won by seven-year-old Martha

A COLOURFUL Christmas card designed by seven-year-old Martha will be winging its way around the world – thanks to the mayor of Salisbury.

Cllr Atiqul Hoque selected the design as the winner of the mayor’s annual Christmas card competition, with the winner being used on official cards sent from the city.

The design – named Rainbow Christmas – will now be sent around the world, including to Salisbury’s sister cities in Maryland, USA; its twin town of Xanten, Germany; and twin commune of Saintes, France.

Cllr Hoque said: “Well done to everyone who took part in my Christmas card competition.

“It was hard choosing a winner as there were many fantastic entries, we are lucky to have so many talented young people in Salisbury.

“Congratulations to Martha for being this year’s winner – her entry stood out because of her creative use of colour and imagination.”
