Salisbury City Council seeks new councillor

A NEW councillor is wanted to join Salisbury City Council following the death of former councillor Bob Gann.

Cllr Gann sadly died after he took his own life following a period of depression. The Labour councillor represented St. Edmund’s ward from May 2025 to July 2025.

Now, Salisbury City Council is looking to fill the empty seat.

An election to fill the vacant seat will be held if 10 electors from the city ward of Salisbury (Salisbury St Edmund’s Ward) write to the returning officer at Wiltshire Council by September 25 asking for an election to be held.

Otherwise, the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

If an election is called, it will take place no later than November 27.

Council roles provide an opportunity to give something back to your area. The non-salaried role sees local people get involved in planning and development issues, as well as representing the views of local people.
