CUBS from across the Salisbury area were tasked with turning rubbish into cities as part of a scrap heap challenge.
The challenge saw Cubs work together at the district headquarters at Dennis Marsh House in Westminster Road to turn a pile of recyclable materials into a construction chosen at random.
This time, the theme was ‘city’, with members creating mediaeval London, a mushroom city, a hotel and an underwater city.
The event was attended by eight Cub Packs, which included the 4th Salisbury (Harnham), 8th Salisbury, 14th Salisbury, 1st Laverstock, 1st Wilton, Bourne Valley, 1st Amesbury and 1st Boscombe Down.
“The Cubs were fortunate to have special guests who were the mayor and mayoress of Salisbury, Sven and Marcia Hocking,” said the assistant district commissioner for the Scouts, Mark Warner.
“When the models were completed, the mayor had the tough job of judging the entries.
“The 8th Salisbury Cubs were the winners, with 4th Salisbury (Harnham) and Bourne Valley as runners-up.
“The district lead volunteer, Ian Jack, popped in to say hello to the Cubs, and Explorer Scout Ryan Warden spoke about his experience attending the World Scout Jamboree in Korea in 2023 and showed lots of mementos from the adventure.”
