Salisbury hospital traffic warning ahead of theatre delivery

WORK on a new operating theatre at Salisbury District Hospital will bring delays to those arriving and leaving the site.

On Sunday, August 4, a new air handling unit is set to be delivered to the East Wing of the hospital.

The delivery means there will be disruption on site between 9am and 10.30am.

Part of the road and pavement that starts at the main entrance on Williams Avenue and leads up to North Wing will be shut over two 15-minute periods.

“During this time traffic will be managed by contractors and hospital staff,” a hospital spokesperson said.

“If you arrive on site during this time, you will be diverted towards the multi-storey car park and the parking areas by East Wing near the pencils sculpture.

“If you are leaving from the North Wing area during this time, there will be a slight delay when leaving the site, but you will not be expected to pay any extra parking charges.

“Patient transport vehicles will also be able to park in the Robert White Theatre car park between 6am and midday to collect patients waiting to be discharged from the Portesham Unit.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.”
