A SALISBURY hotel is hoping to extend the entrance, restaurant and boost the spa facilities under new plans.
The Milford Hall Hotel, in Castle Street, has applied for permission to extend the main entrance and the restaurant, install a new shopfront and entrance to the spa building, and install solar panels on a section of roof.
A planning application has been submitted to Wiltshire Council by Spruce Town Planning.
“The proposed extensions to the main entrance and restaurant are designed to improve the overall appearance of this section of the hotel, as well as provide more functional internal space,” it said.
“The proposal is for a clearer defined front entrance and lobby that will improve the relationship between the modern extensions and the listed building.
“Both extensions will be single-storey and the proposed restaurant extension will replace a lightweight structure that was previously an outside terrace.”
The spa building is in a former coach house on the site, serving hotel guests and the public.
However, the application says it does not have a “recognisable entrance from the street”.
“The proposal is to replace the existing faux facade fronting the highway with a shopfront design that replicates the original pattern of timber doors,” it added.
“The proposal will improve the appearance of this building in the street scene.”
Under the plan, solar panels would be installed on the west-facing roof of the “central bedroom accommodation block”.
“They are designed to blend with the existing slate roof and sited away from the listed building,” the application said.
