A SALISBURY school was evacuated yesterday morning (September 9) following a suspected nearby gas leak.
Fire crews from Salisbury and Fordingbridge were called to South Wilts Grammar School at Stratford Road just before 12pm.
They worked alongside engineers from SGN to use gas monitoring equipment to try and locate the source of the gas smell.
“Students were moved away from the building while the investigations were carried out,” a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.
The source of the smell could not be found however, and SGN remained on the scene to carry out further enquiries.
Students returned to the school today (September 10).
