SALISBURY Sea Cadets celebrated a year of achievements when they recently welcomed friends and family to their annual awards evening.
The event, held last month at the unit’s base in Churchill Gardens on the banks of the River Avon, recognised the efforts of young people across all sections of the unit, from Junior Sea Cadets aged ten to 12 through to Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets up to the age of 18.
The Salisbury unit operates on Monday and Thursday evenings throughout the year and is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, who together contributed more than 7,000 volunteer hours during 2025.
Over the course of the year, cadets took part in a wide range of activities and training.
Highlights included an annual camp on the edge of Poole Harbour in June when cadets achieved more than 40 qualifications in sailing, windsurfing and campcraft.
In total, Salisbury cadets logged an impressive 3,000 boating hours during 2025.
Several individual awards were presented on the night.
Best Junior Sea Cadet went to AJC Fred, Best Royal Marine Cadet to MC Indiana and Best Sea Cadet to AC Tamar.

Mr Holloway presented several awards and praised the Salisbury unit’s achievements.
He said he was “delighted to attend the Salisbury Sea Cadets Awards Night – a brilliant event bringing the community together”, adding that the cadets’ successes reflected “the hard work and talent of these remarkable young people” and “the tireless dedication of the outstanding team of volunteers here”.
Mr Holloway described TS Salisbury as “an outstanding example” of the impact Sea Cadets can have on young people and the wider community.
