South Wilts Grammar celebrate national athletics success

SOUTH Wilts Grammar School has achieved third place in a national cross country competition.

Two teams travelled to Rugby on Saturday (December 6) to compete in the national finals of the English Schools Athletics Association Cross Country Schools Cup.

Despite the tough, muddy course, SWGS inter girls team finished 11th out of 28 schools, while the senior girls team excelled further, claiming third place out of 27 schools and a bronze medal.

The athletes delivered an exceptional performance, showing remarkable determination, resilience and teamwork on a demanding course.

Joint head of PE Jo Hole said: “This is an outstanding accomplishment, and we could not be prouder of their hard work and resilience.

“Both teams have demonstrated remarkable commitment throughout the season. We extend our sincere thanks to their coach, Jeff Butt, for his dedication, expertise and unwavering support.”
