RESIDENTS at a care home in Salisbury were transported to sunny Spain as they enjoyed a Spanish-themed party laid on by staff.

Tapas and sangria in abundance were tucked into and entertainment was provided courtesy of a Spanish flamenco dancer.

The summer party theme was chosen by the residents at Old Sarum Manor to bring back memories of treasured summer holidays.

The staff got involved dressing up as Spanish bulls and matadors, and the residents enjoyed wearing Spanish accessories and playing castanets.

Residents also took part in a raffle, tombola and a best-dressed competition.

Raffle winner Mrs Bright, whose husband is a resident at the home, said: “It was a great day and the food was wonderful.”

Through the day’s activities, £385 was raised for Old Sarum Manor’s charity of the year, the Care Workers Charity, whose work supports the almost 2 million care workers in the UK.

Michael Berkley-Blezard, general manager at the care home in Salisbury said: “Once again, the team came together to throw an amazing party, celebrating the Spanish culture.

“This was a social event with much love, laughter and enjoyment for people of all ages.

“The Spanish dancing was very well received, and many people joined in. Everyone was having a great time.

“Well done to the Old Sarum Manor team for the dedication and commitment shown to ensure this was another memorable event. We look forward to our 5th Anniversary Party in October 2025.”
