Star of BBC One’s Destination X to join Salisbury homelessness charity’s fundraising events

A STAR of the BBC One show Destination X will be swapping our screens for a Salisbury charity’s first-ever Colour Dash and 10K Speedway event later this month.

Nick Butter, a successful author and endurance athlete, became the first person to complete a marathon in every single country across the world.

He will now be flexing his leg muscles in Salisbury for the charity Alabaré at the Thruxton Circuit on September 13.

This comes as Alabaré partnered with what is notoriously Britain’s fastest racetrack to host a 10-kilometre, chipped and timed event, with more than three laps for more serious runners.

The Colour Dash will then follow – a family-friendly, disco-themed run, jog, walk, wheel or boogie around one lap, accompanied by banging tunes, powdered paint stations and a foam finish.

The whole day will raise money so Alabaré can support more than 3,200 vulnerable and marginalised people in the south west and Wales every year, by providing homes, restoring hearts, and empowering minds.

Rebecca Mullen, Alabaré’s principal lead for events said: “We are so pleased to have Nick Butter joining us for the 10K Speedway and Colour Dash at Thruxton later this month.

“The day promises to be a really powerful moment of compassion and solidarity with people experiencing homelessness, while also bringing plenty of fun, at a hugely popular venue.

“After his appearance on one of TV’s biggest new shows, we are grateful that he is taking the time out of his schedule to support us in ending homelessness.”

Every step people take in the 10K Speedway and Colour Dash will help Alabaré to break the cycle of homelessness across its services with adults, young people, veterans, those with learning disabilities, and people facing mental health struggles.

The charity’s supported living accommodation gives clients the tools to build confidence, improve their well-being, and boost employability.

Destination X, hosted by Rob Brydon of Gavin and Stacey fame, combines elements of The Traitors with Race Across the World, and sees competitors arrive at mystery locations in blacked-out windows as they take part in challenges to help them work out where they are.

There’s still time to sign up for the 10K Speedway, or the Colour Dash, with further details available at https://alabare.co.uk/events/
