Three arrested after stolen BMW stopped in Mere

THREE people are currently in custody after officers stopped a suspected stolen vehicle in Mere this morning.
Salisbury Police say that at approximately 2am, officers were on the B3095 when they had reason to stop a BMW.
Further checks showed the vehicle was reported to have been stolen from the Oxford area and the vehicle was being driven on false number plates. The vehicle was seized.
Three males, one aged 16 from Avonmouth, one aged 28 from Oxfordshire and one aged 29 from Milton Keynes, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle.
Further checks showed the 29-year-old male was also wanted by West Midlands Police for theft of a vehicle on December 14 – he was further arrested on suspicion of a second theft of a motor vehicle.
All three men remain in Swindon custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.
