RESIDENTS in Wilton have been urged to take extra care as Storm Goretti approaches with weather warnings in place for Thursday evening through Friday morning.
Forecasts predict up to 3cm of snow overnight, and while temperatures are expected to remain above freezing, strong winds could make it feel as cold as -10°C.
Wilton Town Council has advised anyone travelling during the night or early Friday to allow extra time and take care on the roads.
Drivers are encouraged to clear their windscreens fully, reduce speed and prioritise safety over punctuality.
Pedestrians are also being reminded to wear grippy footwear and dress in layers to stay warm.
The council highlighted the importance of using local grit bins, which are available across the town for treating footpaths and highways.
In a light-hearted message on social media, the council added: “Bonus points for grippy shoes – try not to recreate what the professionals did on Dancing on Ice.
“Wrap up in layers, dig out your big coat, and show it off around town. Stay safe. Stay warm. Stay upright!”
Residents are being asked to take extra precautions during the most challenging hours overnight and into Friday morning as the town prepares for the wintry conditions.
