TWO fields at Alderholt near Fordingbridge were left charred following a large fire yesterday afternoon (August 20).
The fire, which was first reported at 2.30pm, started in a grass field off Hillbury Road before it spread to a nearby field.
An area roughly the size of 80m by 80m was hit by the blaze.
Crews from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, including Ringwood and Fordingbridge, along with Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene.
Members of the public were asked to stay away from the area while crews dealt with the fire and a road closure was put in place.
The blaze was eventually extinguished by crews, who used five hose reels and four beaters to bring the fire under control.
Crews came to a stop at 5.30pm.
