SALISBURY could see heavy, thundery rain in the coming days – with a weather warning issued covering the city.
After days of sweltering in temperatures in the high 20s, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for much of the UK, running from 9pm tomorrow (July 18) to 6pm on Saturday evening.
As well as Salisbury, the warning covers areas including Fordingbridge and Ringwood, and more of Hampshire, skirting other parts of Wiltshire and neighbouring Dorset.
“Areas of heavy, thundery rain may lead to disruption to transport and travel from late Friday through much of Saturday,” a forecaster said.
The alert warned people could see:
* Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
* Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
* Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
* Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
* Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life
* Some communities might become cut off if roads flood
