YOUNG people across the county have cast their votes in this year’s Wiltshire Council Youth Elections, choosing representatives to speak up for them and influence local decision-making.
Pupils from 13 secondary schools and one college took part in the elections, with 41 Youth Councillors elected.
They will serve a two-year term and act as the voice of young people in discussions with Wiltshire Council and partner organisations, raising issues that matter most to their peers, including mental health, education, transport, the environment and opportunities for young people.
Members also take part in regular meetings, consultations and campaigns.
By voting in the elections, young people help decide who will represent them, shape priorities for youth-led projects and funding and ensure real experiences from schools and communities are reflected in decision-making.
Cabinet member for children’s services Cllr Jon Hubbard said: “Young people bring insight, challenge and fresh thinking to the decisions we make as a council.
“The Youth Council elections give young people a real opportunity to choose representatives who will speak up on their behalf and help shape services and priorities across Wiltshire.
“I would like to congratulate everyone who has been elected and thank all those who took part.”
