“Young” people arrested after Jaguar stolen from Shrewton crashes on A350

TWO “young” people have been arrested after a stolen Jaguar that failed to stop for officers crashed.

Wiltshire Police said the pair were arrested following “a pursuit of a stolen vehicle” at around 10.30am on bank holiday Monday (August 26).

A police spokesperson said officers responded to reports a Jaguar had been stolen from an address in Shrewton and was being driven by a 16-year-old.

“The vehicle was located travelling on the A36 through Westbury and after failing to stop for police, a pursuit was authorised with the assistance of NPAS (National Police Air Service),” they said.

“Following the successful deflation of the vehicle’s tyres by officers, the vehicle crashed on the A350 and two occupants were detained.

“Two young males from Devizes were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.”

One was taken into custody in Melksham, while the other was taken to hospital for injuries police said were not thought to be serious.
