A COUNCILLOR has resigned “with immediate effect” from both Wiltshire and Salisbury City Councils.
Cllr Alan Bayliss, who represented the Salisbury Milford division, is reported to have stood down from his role “for personal reasons.”
Wishing Mr Bayliss well upon his departure, Leader of Wiltshire Council, Cllr Ian Thorn, said: “On behalf of the council, I would like to thank Alan for his contribution to the work of the council and support to the residents of Salisbury Milford.
“We respect his decision to step down and wish him well for the future.”

The resignation creates a vacancy on the council who have confirmed arrangements will be made for a by-election to be held “in accordance with the relevant electoral requirements.”
Further details, including the date of the by-election, will be announced in due course.
Mr Bayliss, who has lived in Salisbury since 2009, was named Portfolio Holder for Climate and Net Zero in June.
He is known for his passion for sport in the community, volunteering as a coach, technical official and committee member of Salisbury’s triathlon club and as secretary of Triathlon England’s south west region. He has also represented Great Britain as an age group athlete.
