RESIDENTS’ input is wanted to help shape Amesbury’s cycling and walking network.
The town is one of four in Wilshire that will see a new Local Cycling and Walking Plan (LCWIP) implemented – a plan that identifies local cycling and walking networks and seeks to improve these over time.
The plan aims to create connected walking and cycling networks that make it easier than ever to choose greener travel and reduce the need for cars.
Once an LCWIP is agreed and finalised, it is used as the basis for future cycling and walking improvements in that area and also helps to secure any future funding from the Department for Transport.

Wiltshire Council has already developed LCWIPs for Salisbury, Devizes and Trowbridge, and is looking to produce LCWIPs for other towns in the county in the future.
Views are now sought in Amesbury before a final LCWIP report is published later in the year.
Councillor Martin Smith, cabinet member for highways at Wiltshire Council, said: “LCWIPs serve as vital strategic blueprints for enhancing cycling and walking infrastructure, and so it’s important for residents of Amesbury, Corsham, Royal Wootton Basset and Warminster to actively engage in this consultation process.
“Their input will play a pivotal role in shaping future walking and cycling developments in these towns.
“The consultation allows people to pinpoint specific improvements and suggestions to the walking and cycling networks they would like to see in each town on a map and also prioritise where they would like to see any future funding spent.
“We have committed to promoting more walking and cycling in our business plan, and these LCWIPs will directly align with these aims once put into action.”
The consultation opened today (July 8) and will run until midnight on August 4.
