A KEY road stretching through Downton is set to see three weeks of temporary traffic lights to allow junction improvements to take place.
The junction at the A338 (The Headlands, Salisbury Road, and The Borough) will be affected from Monday (August 4).
Multi-way temporary traffic signals, including temporary signalised pedestrian crossings, will be in place for the duration of the work to manage traffic.
The work will see existing infrastructure, which has met the end of its design life, upgraded to improve pedestrian safety and reliability for all road users.
The improvements include removing outdated equipment and upgrading the junction to the latest traffic signal technology.

Councillor Martin Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “The traffic signal junction at the A338 in Downton has been identified as a priority for refurbishment due to the age and condition of the existing infrastructure.
“This upgrade is part of our ongoing investment in modernising traffic signals across Wiltshire, helping to ensure our roads remain safe, efficient and fit for the future.
“We are committed to protecting the safety of everyone who uses our roads, whether they live in Wiltshire or are visiting, and these improvements will support that goal for many years to come.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of residents and road users while we carry out these essential improvement works.”
