A SALISBURY author has released a novel about a group of young fairy godmothers and their plight to stop magic disappearing from their kingdom
Quest for the Celestial Wand is the debut fantasy novel written by Salisbury woman Bianca Rodriguez Jacobs.
The book is part inspired by Bianca’s childhood as she used to create magical worlds to play in with her sister.
“[Quest for the Celestial Wand is] a fantasy story for seven to 11-year-olds, focussing on a group of young fairy godmothers, a human who becomes entangled with their world and the adventures they go on together to save the magic in their realm and beyond,” she said.

Bianca, who moved to Salisbury two years ago, hopes the book will form part of a short series of novels that will promote hope, friendship and acceptance of those who are different.
Speaking about the city, she said: “I absolutely love it here and have made myself at home by getting involved within the community as a manager and coach for Salisbury FC Youth’s U13 Girls’ team, which is a delight.”
Win a free signed copy
Bianca is encouraging children to send in a drawing of their favourite scene from the book or a front cover design for a chance to win a free signed copy – and she will even visit the winner’s school.
The competition is being run on Bianca’s Instagram, @BRJacobs_Books. The winner will be selected in March.
Bianca has sent copies of the book to schools in the area, as well as a supporting scheme of work to help teachers deliver this within their key stage two English lessons.
“As part of this activity, I’m also offering free visits for readings/Q&A sessions/presentations etc, to help promote the magic of reading for seven to 11 year olds; so if any parents or teachers are interested in any this, I’d be very happy to discuss further,” she said.
