THE Alderbury Clothing Exchange is returning this spring, and while the community’s enthusiasm continues to grow, so does the need for extra helping hands.
An urgent appeal for more volunteers has been launched by organisers ahead of the event on Saturday, March 29 from 11am to 1pm at Alderbury Village Hall.
More people are needed to help keep the swap running smoothly.
The exchange does what it says on the tin—it’s an event that provides free, high-quality clothing to local families in need, offering a fun and free way for residents to swap clothing items.
“We’ve had an incredible response to our events, and it’s heartwarming to see how much our community values the clothing exchange,” said founding member Jenna Lloyd.

“But to keep things running efficiently, we really need more volunteers to help on both days – setting up the day before, during the event and packing up afterwards.
“Even just an hour of your time can make a big difference.”
The Alderbury Clothing Exchange also promotes sustainable fashion and reducing landfill waste.

Entry is by suggested donation of £1 per adult to cover the costs of running the events.
However, swappers can browse and take home items without needing to donate in return.
“Whether it’s sorting donations, setting up rails, or as a ‘personal swapper’ helping guests find something they love, there’s a role for everyone,” said Caroline Niven, who co-founded Alderbury Clothing Exchange and has been volunteering since their first event in 2023.
“It’s a brilliant way to meet people, be part of something positive, and help make a real impact.”
Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact the A.C.E. Team by email at: alderburyclothingexchange@gmail.com or through their social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Donations of good-quality clothes and accessories, including men’s, women’s, and children’s wear, are welcome, but the team says they will not be taking adult shoes this time due to a surplus in stock.
Drop-offs can be made at Alderbury Village Hall at the event on Saturday, March 29, or between 9am and 5pm the day before at the Fountain Room at the same venue.
The team will also be collecting food and toiletries for the Salisbury Foodbank.
