Woman stabbed with glass during “violent altercation” at Salisbury restaurant

A WOMAN was “stabbed with a piece of glass” during a fight at a Salisbury restaurant last night (November 13).

The incident unfolded at the Thai Orchard, in Fisherton Street, at around 10pm, after police received reports of a “violent altercation between two members of staff”.

“During the incident, a woman in her 50s sustained serious injuries after being stabbed with a piece of glass,” a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

“She was taken to Salisbury District Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”

A woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently in custody at Melksham for questioning.

Detective Inspector Eirin Martin, South CID, said: “This was a serious incident in which a woman was injured inside the restaurant following an argument.

“Officers responded quickly, making an arrest at the scene and securing the area to allow enquiries to take place.

The cordon remains in place at the restaurant entrance and exit, but Fisherton Street is open as usual.”
