Royal British Legion band and Little Big Band ensemble pack out Salvation Army hall

BANDS hit the right note during a special concert in Salisbury to raise money for the city’s Royal British Legion and the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army hall was packed for a concert by Salisbury’s Royal British Legion band and the Little Big Band ensemble.

From traditional pieces like the Dam Busters’ March, to contemporary favourites such as a medley of James Bond themes, organisers said the groups’ programme “delighted a packed auditorium”.

The concert was organised as a fundraiser for both Salisbury Royal British Legion and as a gift back to community and a thank you for their support to both charities.

“It’s great when charities and good causes can work together like this,” said Captain Martin Davison, of Salisbury Salvation Army.

“The afternoon was much appreciated by everyone who attended, and the contrasting styles of the bands’ repertoires were great to listen to and a tribute to the skill and dedication of the musicians involved.”

Everyone involved gave their time for free to help the charities while the final total raised is still being finalised as late donations come in, he added.
